Unfounded Threats: FBI Debunks Hoax Targeting Northern Nevada High Schools
The FBI has confirmed that the threats made against several high schools in Northern Nevada on Wednesday morning were a hoax. The investigation has revealed that the threats were not credible, and no physical bomb or incendiary device was found at any of the affected school districts.
Storey County, Douglas County, Churchill County, and Carson City have all reported investigating the threats. As a precaution, classes at Virginia City High School were canceled for the day, and Carson City High School temporarily suspended classes in the morning. However, classes resumed as normal at both schools the following day.
The Nevada Threat Analysis Center (NTAC) has been actively involved in the investigation, sharing information with law enforcement partners. NTAC has confirmed that the threats were a hoax and that there is no immediate danger to the school districts.
Despite the hoax nature of the threats, several school districts have reported increased security measures on Wednesday. The investigation into the origin of the threats is ongoing, and the NTAC continues to analyze the situation and provide updates as necessary.
