Mortal Kombat fans, prepare for a potential low blow! If you snagged the physical version of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection for your Switch or Switch 2, you might be in for a surprise. Here's the deal: Mortal Kombat 4 isn't actually on the game card.
This news comes straight from Digital Eclipse, the game developers, who've confirmed that MK4 is only available as downloadable content. But here's where it gets controversial... the physical release had to be submitted long before MK4 was ready, so it didn't make the cut for the cartridge.
Atari's official website now has a notice for Switch users, urging them to connect to the Nintendo store and download the necessary patches to get MK4 and other enhancements.
The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection on Switch 2 runs on Version 1.0.1 right out of the box, and a day one update is required to access Mortal Kombat 4 and the rest of the game.
And this is the part most people miss... This issue only affects the Nintendo versions. The PlayStation 5 physical release includes all games on the disc. Digital Eclipse has also hinted that if there's a future reprint of the Switch cartridges, it will supposedly include Mortal Kombat 4.
