In a recent announcement, the Fijian government has confirmed that Dr. Peggy Ravusiro, the winner of the Miss Fiji 2025 pageant, will represent Fiji at the Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026. This decision was made by the Cabinet, which approved $198,000 in public funding for both the Miss Fiji and Miss Pacific Island Pageants under a Service Agreement signed on December 3, 2025.
The Acting Prime Minister and Acting Minister for Local Government, Filimoni Vosarogo, emphasized the importance of this decision, stating that the Cabinet's agreement includes the requirement that the winner of the Miss Fiji Pageant will represent Fiji in the Miss Pacific Island Pageant. He also stressed the need for the organizers to respect this decision, as it is a matter of public funds and public confidence.
Mr. Vosarogo further explained that the government's intervention is necessary due to the involvement of public funds. He noted that the decision made by the Cabinet is the apex body of decision-making within the government, and maintaining public confidence is crucial.
